Up till now there was a piecemeal approach to use the Computer/IT by a college/educational institution to meet its requirement. Every department of the college was using the commuter technology to record data/information independently. As a result the information pertaining to one department was not available to other department and vice versa. There was also the recording of duplicate data resulting in to wastage of precious time and resources. The management had to toil to collect and cobble up the scattered data/information from various departments to arrive at any enterprise wide decision. Since data were kept in stand alone computers there were no means to access remotely. Also there was always a time delay in seeking the information from various departments. Besides the information was not accessible to every one who needed it .Hence there was always a growing need to develop and a system which makes the information availability instantaneous, universal and horizontal.

Proposed System : The proposed system is an enterprise-wide solution to manage all the activities of a typical Technical Institute/College. This system, provide a holistic approach to the tasks performed by the institute as a single unit. This makes the task of management much easier as the information is available horizontally to all the people who need it and authorized to receive it. There is no seek-time for information in the proposed system as the system will be on-line. Data will be centrally stored and managed. The proposed system has the following advantages.

The proposed system has the following advantages over the legacy system

• It will provide an organization-wide integrated approach to the information management unlike the previous information systems that were discrete and piecemeal in nature.
• The proposed system has removed duplicity as the data is stored and managed centrally.
• The system is web based and hence the information is available to any person having access to a terminal connected to the internet or intranet.
• Interfaces are user friendly and no special training or knowledge is required to feed and retrieve the information.
• The system cater to all the functions like students data, accounting, library management, HR, Faculty, management ,event management, ,exams, admissions ,canteen, material/vendor management, query management training and placements.
• The system stores the data in database and various reports needed by management are generated on a click. What used to be a mammoth and arduous task needing employment of umpteen staff is now a fun.
• The proposed system does not strain the resources as the existing systems are normally found sufficient to run smoothly.
  
• Suffice to say the proposed system is panacea for all the ills.
  

Technology Used : The presentation of the entire software has been done using HTML, CSS & PHP. Java Script has been used as Client Side Scripting where as MySQL & Ajax. The software uses MySQL and XML as its Database and is platform independent. However we suggest all our clients to use Linux Hosting provided by our company on our in-house servers.
